Synopsis
Finally the Punjabi film audience have got to enjoy and explore some new amazing? talent and a new approach to film making and story telling. This movie clearly stands apart from all other Punjabi movies because Fer mamla Gadbad Gadbad unlike other Punjabi movies, has a story line and does not typically survive on gags and situations. Thank god there is no Gippy, Neeru and the usual cast and baseless laughter! The Punjabi film fraternity needs to diversify and showcase variety and this seems to be a good start for everyone else to follow.
The movie is a laughing riot that has a beautiful romantic storyline and some fantastic music to match. Songs like Dil De Varke by Kamal Khan and Rab Jaane by Master Salim match the best in bollywood in terms of music quality, picturisation and appropriateness of situation. With lots of funny characters and plots beautifully entwined into the main story of romance and love this is a complete family entertainer.
Roshan Prince and Jaipji khaira are in the lead roles of Fer Mamla Gadbad Gadbad and the story, takes us into the life of an aspiring actor "Jassi" who dreams of making it big by launching himself as an actor so that he can full fill his dreams of marrying the woman he loves "Roop". Roop is played by Bhanushree Mehra who has already showcased her talent in many movies. While trying to make it work following the moral path Jassi does not achieve much success, it is then that he decides to make easy money by devising "Dramas" in order to blackmail people.
The actors have done great justice to their roles in the movie, Roshan Prince aces in comedy roles, however he has also done justice to the romantic aspect of his character in the movie, some of the songs have also been sung by Roshan Prince and reflect the passion of the singer in him. Both the heroines have done justice to their roles and the respective on screen chemistry with Roshan has added to the intensity of the movie's narrative.
The entire cast has perfectly settled into their roles and Rana Ranbir and DN Sharma have proved to be the perfect support roles. The comedy, like the music is well integrated into the story and rarely seems out of place or over played.
The duo of Rimpy Prince who have directed the film has done a very nice job and their experinece of directing some very popular songs in their career leave an impact on all the songs in the movie. The experimentation with an Item number seems to have added a new aspect to Punjabi movie making.
Coming to the other aspects of the film, gripping screenplay and superb punches have been handled equally well by the director. Great writing has to be effectively utilised by the director and it has been done here. Screenplay was well written and was equally complimented by the dialogues. Rimpy Prince has done a fine job yet again and handled such a big project with ease. From the choice of actors to the locations in Punjab as well as Canada was just perfect.
Music is composed by the finest name present in the Punjabi Industry Jaggi Singh. After a few letdown's he's back to form and has given a foot tapping score for this one. Tracks like Dil De Varke, Rab Jaane, Lakk Gadvi Varga for that purpose are all chartbusters.
Final say
Overall, Fer Mamla Gadbad Gadbad has it's own shares of laughs and giggles and its a complete entertainment film for one and all. The movie is a landmark film in Punjabi Cinema. The film will be most enjoyed by the youth of Punjab.
